This case study in summary
The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) is the senior line infantry of the British Army. Formed on 28 March 2006, it was founded on the fighting heritage of historic Scottish Infantry Regiments. Sandlebridge was commissioned to design and build a website that would encompass the heritage of the Regiment and provide a membership portal for SCOTS veterans.
The Royal Regiment of Scotland is the senior line infantry regiment of the British Army, with a proud heritage rooted in historic Scottish regiments. Sandlebridge was commissioned to redesign and rebuild their website, creating a modern digital platform that both honours this legacy and supports ongoing engagement with veterans and the wider community.
Since 2021, Sandlebridge has worked closely with the Regiment to deliver a complete digital transformation - combining consultancy, design and development to create a scalable and future-ready platform.
The Royal Regiment of Scotland faced a multifaceted digital challenge. Their existing website no longer reflected the stature, heritage, or breadth of the Regiment’s activities. Content had grown organically over time, resulting in a complex and fragmented structure that made navigation difficult for users across multiple audiences.
The project required a careful balance: preserving and showcasing the Regiment’s rich history—including links to the Regimental Museum at Edinburgh Castle—while modernising the experience for today’s users. Additionally, the site needed to support new functional requirements, including a membership registration system, marketing integrations, a video gallery, and an e-commerce capability for memorabilia.
There was also a clear operational need. The internal team required a system that was easy to manage, with the ability to update content, run campaigns, and maintain the site without ongoing technical dependency.
Sandlebridge delivered a complete redesign and rebuild of the website, creating a highly visual, engaging and structured digital platform. Built using Webflow CMS, the solution provided a flexible content framework that allows the Regiment to manage large volumes of information with clarity and consistency.
Key integrations, including Mailchimp, enabled more effective communication with veterans and stakeholders, while new features such as registration functionality, video content, and an online shop expanded the site’s capabilities. Alongside the build, Sandlebridge provided SEO support and hands-on training, ensuring the internal team could confidently manage both content and marketing activity.
The relationship has continued beyond launch, with ongoing support including the production of a quarterly newsletter and a substantial annual journal, as well as current work on a brand refresh to keep the platform evolving.
The new platform has transformed how the Regiment presents itself online. Content is now clearly structured and accessible across devices, significantly improving user experience for a diverse audience that includes veterans, families, and the general public.
The introduction of integrated marketing tools has enabled more consistent and effective communication, while the CMS has empowered the internal team to take ownership of content updates and campaign management. The site now successfully combines storytelling, history, and practical functionality in a way that reflects the stature of the Regiment.
This project has positioned The Royal Regiment of Scotland with a digital platform that is not only fit for today but adaptable for the future. By combining heritage with modern digital capability, the Regiment is better equipped to engage its community, promote its activities, and preserve its legacy.
The ongoing partnership ensures continuous improvement, allowing the platform to evolve alongside the Regiment’s needs. From content publishing to marketing strategy and brand development, the website now acts as a central pillar in their long-term digital ecosystem.
Enjoyable project and ongoing work for "The Scots". Great client to work with and you'll rarely get a client with such an amazing story to tell and fantastic images to bring a project to life!
